There isn't any story in any of the pre-made ZZT worlds ("guy gets trapped in dungeon" isn't a story), but they don't need one. ZZT probably didn't invent the concept of sharing levels over the internet, but it certainly made good use of it. The game also comes with an easy-to-use editor that allows you to make your own worlds. From the opening screen, you can choose to start in a number of different "worlds" - essentially, different game environments. Or any version of Windows, for that matter. It's a DOS game, but it can run in a Windows XP environment. Now officially released as freeware, ZZT can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection and five minutes to spare. ![]() But it's easy to enjoy it, purely because of the fact that it's still playable and enjoyable.
